How do I make this board game work for my speech class?

I was planning on making a board game kind of like chutes and ladders except mine would be catapults and ladders with a castle theme. Does anyone have suggestion for me?

well, to me catapult would be also an up , so hows about this. try applying a wargaming convention to the game, rather than having a set location roll a dice (D6), 1,2,3 = down 4,5,6 = up, along with a 20 sided dice (d20) which controls the exact location in which you land.

also, to reflect the fact that a catapult is a weapon, use an idea like the game sorry (its a really old one) where if you land on (or in this case within X, since a catapult would have a shrapnel radius) anyone you land on/near suffers from some sort of penalty.
